The redevelopment of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne set a new benchmark in healthcare design, with a focus on creating a space that delivers family-centred care and comfort during difficult times. The facility’s interior design was inspired by the therapeutic benefits of nature, resulting in an environment that is engaging, joyful, uplifting, and restorative for patients, families, and staff.

To support this vision, a range of Armstrong Flooring sheet vinyl products were selected and installed throughout the hospital. The specification included Accolade Plus, Accolade Safe, Infinity, Safeguard, and Wallflex, each chosen for their performance, resilience, and ability to meet the stringent demands of a high-traffic healthcare setting.

Flooring was installed in patient rooms, waiting areas, corridors, and operating theatres, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality, hygiene, and design appeal across the state-of-the-art facility.

A unique aspect of the project was the customised flooring solutions, developed in direct collaboration between Armstrong Flooring’s technical team and the architectural team. This partnership allowed tailored finishes that aligned with the hospital’s design vision while meeting the highest standards of safety, durability, and performance.
